Access The Wall Street Journal from anywhere! 

  • Sign in with your library card number / PIN.
  • Click the “Create an account for a three day pass" link.
  • Create your account, and you can start using wsj.com immediately. 
  • When your pass expires, simply come back and repeat the process to login as an existing user with the same username and password you originally created for your wsj.com account.

  • Sign in with library card number / password.
  • Click the “Access Redemption Code" button.
  • Click “REDEEM”.
  • Register for a new account, or use your existing NYTimes.com login.
  • Once you redeem a 24-hour pass, you can sign into the NYTimes app with your login.
  • When the 24-hour pass expires, you can repeat the process to redeem the code again for continue access.

Please note: If you already subscribe to NYT digitally, you will need to set up an account for Library access with a different email address than used for your current subscription. Access to NYT Cooking and Crossword is not included in the Library's subscription.



hoopla: Streaming Service for Books, Audiobooks, Music, Video, and Comics

Borrow movies, music, audiobooks, books, comics and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet, or phone – and even your TV!

With no wait lists, titles can be streamed immediately on a laptop or desktop computer at https://www.hoopladigital.com/ or with mobile devices through the hoopla app, which is available for Android, IOS, and Amazon. Apps for TV services include AppleTV, AndroidTV, AmazonFireTV, and Roku. There are hundreds of thousands of titles to choose from, with more being added daily. 

At the website or in the app, after setting up a hoopla account, patrons can use their Highland Park Library card number and PIN to check out. Temporarily, the four (4) titles a month limit has been eliminated to allow for more check outs.

Get instant, streaming access to thousands of critically acclaimed movies, documentaries, and kid favorites. Kanopy partners with studios like A24, The Criterion Collection, PBS, and more to bring access to thoughtful entertainment.

You can stream Kanopy on any of your favorite devices via mobile and tablet apps for iPhone and Android. You can also access Kanopy on your Desktop, and SmartTV apps like Roku, AppleTV, and Fire Stick.

To get started visit  https://hplibrary.kanopy.com and select the "Add Library Card" button on the lower left. Enter your library card number and PIN. Create an account using your preferred email. Begin streaming!

OverDrive: Downloadable Books, Audiobooks, Magazines, and Streaming Video

You can download books, audiobooks, and magazines for free from OverDrive. Simply set up your OverDrive account with your Highland Park Library card number and PIN. To read or listen to books on your tablet or smart phone download OverDrive’s Libby app for Apple or Android.
