Legislative Affairs

The department of Policy Development and Strategic Initiatives leads the Town in the research, analysis, and development of policies on a wide range of issues including organizational efficiency, productivity and performance, governmental relations, and legislation. The department also acts as a liaison with all levels of government and supports the tracking, monitoring, and research of local, regional, state, and federal legislation affecting the Town.

89th Texas Legislative Session

Each legislative session, the Town of Highland Park and the City of University Park develop joint legislative priorities. The guiding philosophy of these priorities is to support legislation that preserves the Town's authority to govern local affairs and oppose any legislation that erodes this authority.
