Temporary HP Library Closure for Recarpeting Project

Library Posted on January 28, 2025

The Highland Park Harvey R. “Bum” Bright Library will temporarily close for a recarpeting project, starting on Tuesday, February 11. The closure is expected to last for approximately two weeks, during which time the library will undergo improvements to enhance the space for all visitors. Please know the book drop will be closed to returns during the project.

We are committed to ensuring library services remain available as much as possible throughout the closure. Patrons can take advantage of curbside service for material pickups during the following hours: Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

To utilize this service, patrons are encouraged to place holds on books, DVDs, or other materials online through our catalog at https://catalog.hplibrary.info. If you prefer, you have questions concerning placing holds online, or you would like suggestions for materials, Library staff are happy to assist you by phone, 214-559-9400, or email, hplibrary@hplibrary.info, during regular Library hours. For more specific details on curbside service, please visit the library’s website.

Alternative Services Available:

  • Digital Resources -  Library cardholders can still access our wide range of digital services, including eBooks, audiobooks, online learning platforms, and digital magazines, https://tx-highlandpark2.civicplus.com/170/eBooks-More.
  • Remote Assistance - If you need help with library accounts, placing holds, or accessing digital collections, staff is available via email Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., https://tx-highlandpark2.civicplus.com/Directory.aspx?did=5. ;
  • Program Updates - Any scheduled programs, workshops, or events will take place inside Town Hall, but not inside the library space.
  • Extended Due Dates and Waiving of Fines/Fees – Library materials checked out will not be due until after the library reopens. Please continue enjoying materials at home instead of returning them through the book drop. Fines and fees for materials will be suspended from accruing during the closure as well.

We understand this temporary disruption will cause inconvenience, and we truly appreciate your patience and support as we work to improve the library space.

This project is generously funded by the Highland Park Quality of Life Foundation.
