Following a presentation to the Town Council by Highland Park Town Administrator Bill Lindley, the Town Council confirmed the selection. Chief Rick Pyle’s appointment to Director of Public Safety will take place immediately. A swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Monday, July 13, 2015, at 8:00 a.m. in the Town Council Chamber.
The appointment of Chief Pyle comes after the passing of Chief Chris Vinson, former Highland Park Director of Public Safety. Chief Vinson passed away on Monday, June 1st, 2015, following complications from heart surgery. Bill Lindley added, “Chief Vinson was a leader and was well respected by Town staff and the community. His loss still weighs heavy on our hearts. Chief Vinson’s leadership extended to his command staff and DPS personnel, and Rick Pyle was the clear choice to continue Chief Vinson’s strong commitment and dedication to public safety.”
