  3. Summer Reading Club Event - Texas Discovery Gardens presents “Marvelous Monarchs”

    Kids, be an eco-hero while learning all about Monarch butterflies, the most famous of all butterflies, and their annual migration phenomenon. The event will be on Friday, July 10 at 10 a.m. in Prather Park and is open to children of all ages.


    Staff from the Texas Discovery Gardens will guide the program and even bring some live butterflies for attendees to see.

  7. Summer Reading Club Event- Community Hero Extravaganza

    The Highland Park Library and Highland Park Department of Public Safety (HPDPS) have rescheduled the community hero extravaganza for Friday, July 17 in Prather Park at 10:00 a.m.


    To promote the summer reading theme “Every Hero Has a Story” HPDPS officers will be present to meet with children and explain the various components of public safety.


    HPDPS will have a fire engine on display so children will get an up close and personal tour of firefighting and rescue equipment. In addition to meeting HPDPS officers, children will participate in a series of fun, educational, and informative crafts designed by Highland Park Library staff.

    Highland Park Library will mark the close of its 2015 “Every Hero Has a Story” Summer Reading Club with a Superhero Training Camp on Friday, July 31 at 10 a.m. in Prather Park. Children will enjoy superhero-themed activities and snacks while celebrating a summer spent discovering that everyone can be a hero.


    Also, children may turn in reading logs if they have not already done so. Children unable to attend the event may turn in their reading logs at the Library through Saturday, August 29.
